Bath & Whirlpool Treatments & Fragrances

Internal & External Cleaners

So it's just a bath eh? 'That bubble bath will do it!' 'It's ok i clean it with my bathroom cleaner.' 'I've never had a problem before...' Yes we have heard it all. Sadly in most cases those statements are wrong, in fact in some cases very wrong.
Unlike normal baths, where the water in the bath never comes into contact with areas that you can't access unless it's draining away, whirlpool baths circulate the water around a series of pipes. These pipes are out of view and out of reach. If you have ever seen inside a drain pipe from your sink etc, you will be familiar with the greyish brown slime that builds up. This is a combination of oils and bio film. Your normal bath cleaner wont reach these areas and more often than not can't remove it either! This is the same issue as hot tub owners will be faced with. Research shows that over 99% of bacteria live in this layer, and it's resistant to bleach!
Here is an extract from investigation carried out in the USA.
'...Reports of whirlpool associated microbial infections are seen in the literature as early as 1972. Due to the
increased popularity of whirlpool bathtubs for both personal home use and for hydrotherapy in hospitals and nursing homes, a preliminary study of microbial content and bacterial loads was undertaken. Initial analysis of the whirlpool tub samples yielded 100% of the samples showing microbial growth with 97% demonstrating the presence of enteric organisms, 94% with fungi, 73% with Pseudomonas sp., 67% with Legionella sp., and 33% with Staphylococcus aureus...'
So while you are laying there relaxing, the water in your bath is busy picking up and transporting all that bacteria to come join you! Not only that, as it builds up it clogs jets, pipes and pumps. Not good eh?
Well don't panic and rush to get rid of the bath... the answer is simple.
For the most effective treatment we stock a simple to use special tablet that you simply add to the bath after use. Run the system for 2 to 3 minutes and drain. No need to rinse! Job done! This has now carefully sanatised your bath, pipes, jets and pump! This is great and cost effective way of keeping the system clean and clear. We do however recommend a occassional deep clean using our special cleaner and degreaser. This is best left for a few hours to get to grips with the really tough stuff and is ideal if you havent treated the bath before! We even do a version by PureSpa that is also fully biodegradable and contains no harsh solvents, alkalis or acids so is great for use with sensitive surfaces and people who have septic tanks.

Aromatherapy

A word of warning.... DO NOT add normal bubble bath to a whirlpool bath!!!
So what can you use? Well there is some disagreement over this out there. Alot of people will be familar with dead sea salts. However being a salt it can lead to corrosion of metal parts. Because of this some people state you shouldn't use them at all in whirlpool bath. This isn't exactly right. Used in small amounts they are perfectly safe to use, however adding 'extra' for more effect is not recommended. We stock a range of salts with various fragrances so you can indulge in your prefered aroma while enjoying the many health benefits of them.
For those that would prefer a liquid treatment, we have a few different options.
There is the standard range of low foam bath essence which offers excellent value. Ideal for everyday use. This is followed by a more concentrated version with the addition of essential oils. At the top end we offer the tried and tested Gardino range. This has a larger range of aromas available, and comes with essential oils and and health benefits.
We currently stock a limited range of bath bombs, foaming bath powers and salts as well.
